MYKKAH PHOTOGRAPHY – Richmond, Alexandria, Central Virginia, Washington D.C., Charleston, Lewisburg, Central West Virginia, Raleigh, Central North Carolina – Wedding Photography

This past January Mykkah Photography attended the Richmond Bridal Showcase with the goal of giving away a photography session to two lucky couples. We noticed a group of girls that continued to come by our booth. We simply assumed that their scouting was out of a hope for one of their numbers being drawn. Our assumptions were correct. When we drew the winning number to our free engagement session we had the great pleasure of meeting one of those girls from the group, Lorena. I can’t begin to tell you what a sweet spirit Lorena possesses and what a joy it was to work with her and Luke. The day before Luke and Lorena’s session, we spent our time scouting out tons of locations that would suit this couple’s personalities. Luke had just one request; that he’d like to have some pictures with mountains. To give Luke the beautiful scenery he had requested we had to drive them 45 minutes out. (After they had just driven two hours from Richmond to meet us but Luke and Lorena were troopers.) Once there, we had such a great time shooting with these two and getting to know them. As you can see the day produced some pretty incredible photos for what we think is a pretty incredible couple.

This February we had the pleasure of having Stephen and Mary as our first engagement session of 2011. This meant they had to suffer through some frigid temperatures that we experienced during their shoot. But we quickly learned that Stephen and Mary’s bright smiles and love for one another warmed up the beauty of this session’s pictures. Mary wanted to incorporate her and Stephen’s college surroundings into the session. So a lot of the warm and wonderfully “rustic” settings that you see in these images took place at Mary’s alma mater: Sweet Briar College. The second half of our day was spent taking pictures at Stephen’s college (Hampden-Sydney) and provided the opportunity for a great change of scenery. The neat part about Stephen and Mary meeting is that although they each attended separate colleges they were “unofficially” brother and sister schools. The fun part for Mykkah Photography was that we got to take pictures at two very old and charming schools. Two is always better than one right? Stephen and Mary showed us just that!

Every so often when the stars align perfectly I find myself smack-dab in the middle of something amazing!  Brian and Kameryn’s engagement session was one of those moments. We started of the snow covered day shooting here and there, but after a short period of time nothing was really developing so we headed back towards a nearby barn we had passed along the way. The outside looked pretty cool, but I had already convinced myself not to get my hopes up on what the inside might look like. As we turned the corner heading inside it was like I had reached Nirvana or I was caught staring at a mirage! The place was amazing!!! Brian and Kameryn were so much fun as well as the perfect fit for this hidden little gem. We ended up getting down and dirty in the hay for quite some time, but as you can see the images are nothing short of breathtaking. Let me know what YOU think!
